How Our Patrols Work
TMS Protection conducts both routine and unannounced mobile patrols during daytime and nighttime hours. The combination of scheduled and random visits is deliberate. Predictable patrols can be anticipated. Unpredictable ones cannot.
Site Inspections
During each patrol, our operatives carry out a thorough inspection of your site. This includes:
- Checking all access points including gates, doors and windows for signs of forced entry or vulnerability
- Inspecting the perimeter for signs of intrusion or attempted break-in
- Checking for suspicious activity, vehicles or individuals in and around the site
- Verifying that all areas are secure and that nothing has been disturbed since the previous visit
- Identifying and reporting any health and safety concerns or maintenance issues
- Completing a full patrol report through SmartTask, timestamped and GPS confirmed
Every visit is logged in real time. You do not have to take our word for it that a patrol took place. The data confirms it.

Mobile Patrols FAQs
What is the difference between a mobile patrol and a static security guard?
A static guard is stationed at a fixed point on your site, typically at an entrance, gatehouse or reception. A mobile patrol operative covers a wider area, moving between locations on foot or in a vehicle. For many sites a combination of both provides the most effective coverage. We assess your specific requirements and advise on the most appropriate solution.
How do I know a patrol has actually taken place?
Every patrol is GPS confirmed and logged in real time through SmartTask. You have access to your client portal at any time, where you can see timestamped patrol records, checkpoint confirmations and patrol reports for every visit. You do not need to contact us to verify that a patrol has taken place.
Can you provide patrols at short notice?
Yes. We maintain a resource pool of trained and vetted operatives who can be deployed at short notice. Contact us to discuss your requirements and timescales.
What happens if the operative finds something wrong during a patrol?
The operative follows the incident response procedures set out in your contract-specific Assignment Instruction pack. This typically involves securing the area, contacting the control room, documenting the incident through SmartTask with photographs and notes, and notifying your designated contact. Where police or emergency services are required, the operative coordinates with them directly. You receive an incident report through your client portal as soon as it is submitted.
Do you provide patrols for vacant or unoccupied properties?
Yes. Vacant and unoccupied properties are a common requirement. We tailor the patrol schedule to the specific risks of an unoccupied site, which differ from those of an operational one.
Can patrol frequency be changed during the contract?
Yes. If your security requirements change, for example during a period of elevated risk or following an incident, we can adjust patrol frequency and timing. Changes are documented and reflected in your Assignment Instructions.
