Environmental, Social &
Governance
TMS Protection has been built on the belief that security done well goes beyond protecting people and property. It means being accountable to the communities we operate in, the people we employ, and the environment we all share.
Our ESG commitments are not a separate policy document. They are built into how we recruit, how we train, how we operate and how we grow. Every decision we make is measured against the same question: does this reflect the kind of business we want to be?
e.s.g.
Environmental
Carbon REduction
We are working with Positive Planet to establish a formal Carbon Reduction Plan. We use a carbon footprint calculator to monitor our emissions and track progress over time.
Our staff receive contract-specific Green Toolbox Talks, which set out practical steps for reducing waste and energy use on each site. These are not tick-box exercises. Staff are required to confirm they understand and will follow the commitments set out in each session.
Energy & Water
At both our offices we operate the following measures:
- Switch It Off policy covering lights and devices when not in use
- LED lighting throughout both offices
- Water use minimisation and water filling stations for reusable bottles
- All management information stored and accessed electronically wherever possible
Transport
We are committed to transitioning to a fully electric and hybrid vehicle fleet by 2028, converting each vehicle as its lease expires. We currently operate two electric vehicles. Additional measures include:
- Car sharing encouraged across the team
- Local recruitment to reduce commuting distance
- Efficient route planning for all mobile operations
- Use of public transport encouraged
- Access to the Halfords Cycle to Work scheme for all staff
Paperless Ops
TMS Protection does not wait for a client to raise a concern before assessing its own performance. We monitor ourselves continuously.
We aim to be fully paperless by 2028. Our SmartTask Contract Management System allows all staff to complete, update and access logs, reports and assignment instructions online. Supporting this:
- All client reports are published electronically and available through our real-time client portal
- We only print when necessary and always print double-sided
Waste
We achieve zero waste to landfill. All waste at our offices is separated into paper, glass and plastic for recycling.
We do not use single-use plastics and have arranged refillable alternatives with our suppliers, including refillable ink cartridges and water bottles. We generate monthly reports to measure and track waste reduction.
Partnership
Shelter
TMS Protection has an ongoing partnership with Shelter, the national charity working to end homelessness and poor housing. We operate clothing donation stations at both our Kent and London offices, as well as at a client site in Bethnal Green. Garments collected are donated to the Shelter store in Strood, where they are distributed to people without a home or sold to generate funds for the charity.
For the past two years, TMS Protection has provided stewarding at the Walk for Home event in London free of charge. By giving our time rather than a fee, we reduce the cost burden on Shelter and allow those funds to be directed where they are needed most.
Commmunity
Initiatives
We delivered a series of educational and motivational workshops to students at Aspire Point on behalf of Legal and General. These sessions were designed to build skills, confidence and career aspirations for young people in the local community.
In partnership with Maidstone Borough Council, our team collected and delivered Christmas presents to residents of a local homeless shelter. This was not a contracted obligation. It was something our people chose to do.
Employment &
Inclusion
TMS Protection is a Disability Confident and KickStart employer. Our approach to inclusive recruitment includes:
- Proactively recruiting candidates from disabled and NEET backgrounds
- Removing biased language from all job advertisements
- Unconscious bias and Equality and Diversity training for all recruitment staff
We are a Living Wage employer. Every member of our team is paid at least the real Living Wage, including TUPE transferees joining us from other contracts.
Employee
Welfare
Every TMS Protection employee has access to health cover through Benenden Health Care and life insurance through Aviva. We invest in these benefits because our people are the service. If they are supported, our clients are better protected.
We have qualified Mental Health First Aiders on staff, including Georgie Powell, Senior Operations Manager, and Jodie Lockwood, HR Officer. Jodie also holds the role of Social Value Champion within the business.

Governace
Sound governance is what allows everything else to function. It is what gives our clients confidence that we will still be here, and still be performing, five years into a contract.

ISO 9001
TMS Protection holds ISO 9001 certification for quality management and ISO 14001 certification for environmental management. Both are maintained through our Integrated Quality Management System and subject to regular external audit. These accreditations reflect a commitment to continual improvement across every aspect of our operations, not just compliance.
Accreditations
We hold SIA Approved Contractor Scheme status for the provision of Security Guarding, Door Supervision and Keyholding services. This is an organisation-level accreditation, separate from the individual SIA licence held by each of our officers. Together, they mean that both the company and the people we deploy meet the standards set by the Security Industry Authority.
Our CSAS accreditation is awarded by Kent Police and was reaudited in 2025. This gives our officers policing powers in the community that standard security operatives do not hold. In 2026, a further six officers were upskilled to CSAS standard.
Staff Vetting
All TMS Protection staff are vetted to BS 7858 standard. The vetting process covers:
- Identity verification
- SIA licence checks
- A five-year written employment background check
- Right to work in the United Kingdom
- Character reference checks
Vetting is managed by Jodie Lockwood, who holds a CIPD Level 3 Diploma in HR Management and is fully trained in BS 7858 requirements. We carry out weekly screening and annual DBS checks for all staff in line with the SIA watchlist.
Data Security
We have achieved zero data or security breaches.
All body worn video footage is managed through our Smart Digital Evidence Management System with AES-256 encryption, role-based access permissions and two-factor authentication on administrator accounts.
We are fully GDPR compliant, with default footage retention set at 28 days and Data Protection Impact Assessments reviewed monthly.
Annual penetration testing and scenario-based breach simulations are carried out to maintain the integrity of our systems.
Health & Safety
TMS Protection Holds CHAS and SafeContractor Accreditations, demonstrating our commitment to health and safety best practice across all contracts. We are also Prompt Payment Code accredited, reflecting how we treat the businesses in our supply chain.
Monthly Service Reports
Our Business Continuity Policy and Plan is maintained and updated by Managing Director Tom Devine.
We carry out bi-monthly IT integrity tests simulating potential failure scenarios.
Our systems are cloud-based and portable, meaning most office-based functions can continue remotely without disruption to service delivery.
The TMS
Flywheel
Everything we do as a business connects. Our ESG commitments do not sit alongside our operations. They run through them.
The TMS Protection Flywheel sets out the six principles that drive our business forward. Each one feeds into the next.
We put our people first. That builds the relationships that allow us to deliver operationally.
Six Principles
- Put People First
- Build Great Relationships
- Deliver Operational Excellence
- Grow the TMS Protection Brand
- Create Positive Social Impact
- Strengthen Financial Acumen
This is not a values statement on a wall. It is how we make decisions.
Operational excellence grows the TMS Protection brand. A stronger brand creates positive social impact. And that impact strengthens our financial foundation, which lets us invest in our people again.
Accreditations
